North Carolina doesn't play around when it comes to their schedule. They play the eighth-toughest schedule in the nation according to KenPom so they have some neutral court losses to Kentucky, UConn and Villanova. UNC also has had to implement several transfers in the rotation and that has taken some time to gell. But in the last four games, they seem to have found the right formula, beating Oklahoma 81-69, Charleston Southern by 45, Pittsburgh by 13 on the road, and in their last game, they beat Clemson on the road by 10. Armando Bacot led the Heels with 14 points and 16 rebounds in a low-scoring affair. UNC shot just 42% from the field, but they held the Tigers to just 36% from the field and 1-of-18 from beyond the arc (6%).

Two key players were back from last season in Bacot (14.9ppg, 11.1rpg) and guard R.J. Davis (20.6ppg, 3.6apg) and they've been stalwarts. But North Carolina has improved because they added Harrison Ingram (Stanford) and Cormac Ryan (Notre Dame) to improve their defense and shooting. Ingram adds 13.1 points and 6.8 rebounds with 1.5 steals while shooting 43.2% from the field and 42.6% from long range. Ryan adds 11 points and 3.5 rebounds on 38.7% shooting (28.6% 3pt). North Carolina averages 83.6 points per game on 45.6% shooting (36.2% 3pt). They allow 70.8 points on 40.6% shooting (30.4% 3pt). They rank 15th in Adjusted Defensive Efficiency according to KenPom. Last year, they ranked 59th in Adjusted Defensive Efficiency.
