NHL best bets and expert picks
The Carolina Hurricanes made us sweat a little bit in last night’s game, but there was never a doubt. As everyone knows by now, it’s the year of fading the Washington Capitals, and the plan has worked thus far.
That’s in the past now, but we have a stacked lineup today of 12 NHL games throughout the day with some interesting matchups.
Florida at Colorado (-135, 6.5)
The Florida Panthers are arguably the hottest team in hockey. The Cats are heading into Colorado riding a six-game winning streak, and they have scored at least four goals in five out of those six games. The win streak started on December 23rd, and in that span, the Panthers and the Avalanche both are averaging 3.83 goals per game, and both power plays have been very successful.
In that same span, the Panthers have the NHL’s third-best power play, which is clicking at 34.6%. The Avalanche haven’t been far off, as their man-advantage unit is converting at a 28.6% rate, the league’s fifth-best.
