The Tigers are off and running this season and look like a team capable of winning the SEC championship and making a deep run in the NCAA Tournament. They come into their SEC opener with a record of 11-2 and six straight wins following an 88-68 win over Penn at home on Tuesday night. Auburn was led by Johni Broome's sixth double-double of the season as he collected 24 points and 12 rebounds including a career-best three 3-point field goals. The win was the team's 52nd straight at home against non-conference win at home under head coach Bruce Pearl.

“Johni Broome dominated in there. He got clean looks tonight and he took them in rhythm. We're going to go as far as he takes us, on and off the court as a leader,” Pearl said. “We shared it and we took care of business.”

The Tigers come into their SEC opener riding high with a six-game winning streak and hoping to rise to the top of the conference rankings again this season. The Tigers are 16th in the country in scoring offense thus far. They are 55th in field goal percentage and 172nd in 3-point shooting. The Tigers have been solid on the defensive end as well thus far. They rank an impressive 64th in the country in opponent's points per game. The Tigers are 20th in opposing team's shooting percentage and 60th in 3-point defense. On the glass, the Tigers are relentless as they rank 29th in total rebounding per game. They are 46th in turnovers as well.
