The Pepperdine Waves head to the state of Washington to take on the 24th-ranked Gonzaga Bulldogs in the WCC opener for both schools on Thursday night. The Pepperdine Waves closed out the non-conference portion of their schedule with two straight wins to push their overall record to 7-8 entering WCC play. On Friday night, the Waves trounced Westcliff by the score of 83-47 at home. The Waves shot 50% from the field while holding Westcliff to under 30% shooting. Four players scored in double-figures for the Waves including Jevon Porter who scored a game-high 18 points to go along with six rebounds. Boubacar Coulibaly had a big night as well with his second straight double-double of 11 points and 15 rebounds. He also had three blocks in the victory.

The Waves prep for a big challenge on the road to open up their WCC schedule this season when they meet Gonzaga on Thursday night. The Waves come into this matchup with the 207th-ranked scoring offense in the nation. They are 122nd in field goal percentage and 94th in 3-point field goal percentage. They do n't rely on the long-range shot, however, ranked just 301st in the nation in 3-point field goals per game. On the defensive end, the Waves rank 172nd in opponent's field goal percentage.
