The New Jersey Devils face the Washington Capitals with both teams looking to improve on rocky seasons. The Capitals have a 17-11-6 record and are in fifth place in the Metropolitan Division. The Devils are having a rough season and hope their offense turns around things as they are scoring 3.46 goals per game with 12 goals in the last three games. Jack Hughes, Jesper Bratt, and Tyler Toffoli have scored 44 goals and 70 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has been great as well. Dawson Mercer, Nico Hischier, and Erik Haula have combined for 26 goals and 25 assists while defensemen Luke Hughes and John Marino have added eight goals and 25 assists from the point to open up the offense.

The offense has been great but the defense has struggled, allowing 3.54 goals per game. Luke Hughes, John Marino, and Kevin Bahl have combined for 3.9 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net with ease. Additionally, goaltender Vitek Vanecek has struggled with a .883 save percentage and a 3.35 goals-against average on 605 shots with -12.3 goals saved above average.
