Atlanta comes in off a 134-127 road win over Houston in their previous contest Wednesday night, winning outright as a 2.5-point underdog. Miami downed Orlando 115-106 on the road in their previous game Wednesday night, winning outright as a 5.5-point underdog. In the all-time regular season series between the teams, the Heat own a 77-58 advantage and have won the last three matchups. That includes a 117-109 road win in the first matchup this season on November 11.

Atlanta earned their second straight win as they downed Houston on the road in their previous contest Tuesday night. The Hawks entered Thursday 12-15 on the season and stood third in the Southeast Division, 4.5 games behind the Magic for the top spot. They held the final spot in the play-in tournament, 3.5 games behind the Knicks for the final guaranteed spot. Against Houston, Atlanta led by 10 after the opening quarter, by as many as 20 in the second quarter and by 12 at the half. The Hawks trailed by two after the third quarter before opening the final stanza with a 29-9 blitz in the first six minutes to go up 18: they didn’t let the Rockets closer than four the rest of the way. Atlanta shot 51.6% from the floor, including 17 of 40 from three-point range, and held a 44-37 edge on the glass in the win. Trae Young led the Hawks with 30 points and 14 assists in the win.

The Hawks enter this co ntest 3rd in scoring offense by averaging 123.1 points per game. Atlanta is 13th in rebounding by collecting 44.2 boards a night while the team stands 17th by dishing out 25.7 assists per contest. Johnson (wrist) suffered a fracture in the game against the Wizards on November 25. He is expected to be out until early January at this point. Griffin (personal) last took the floor on December 11 and is out indefinitely.
