The Washington Commanders are hoping to end a four-game losing streak. Washington last won back on November 9th in a 20-17 road win against the Patriots. They have struggled defensively since that game. They were pelted with a 45-15 home loss by the Dolphins two weeks ago and were competitive last week, losing by a 28-20 score to the Rams in a bout that had the Commanders as 6.5-point dogs. They have covered the spread in just one of the last five bouts.
Sam Howell has struggled in his last few games and was benched in part of the loss against the Rams last week. The 23-year-old QB has connected on just 52% and 42% of his passes in his last two games and has issued 3568 passing yards and a 19:15 TD to INT ratio on the season. Jacoby Brissett connected on 8 of 10 passes for 124 yards last week.
The Commanders played without Brian Robinson Jr. last week due to a hamstring injury. The 24-year-old RB leads the squad with 665 rushing yards on an average of 4.2 yards per carry. He did not practice on Thursday. If he is unable to play, Chris Rodriguez Jr. and Antonio Gibson will share the duties on the ground. Terry McLaurin was a bright spot in the defeat last week, bringing in 141 receiving yards. The 28-year-old WR now has 835 receiving yards on the season. The Washington offense has scored 20 or fewer points in four consecutive games.
