Virginia Tech transfer QB Braxton Burmeister ran for a 47-yard touchdown and added a 14-yard score through the air. Jordan Byrd got the scoring started for the Aztecs with a 66-yard punt return touchdown.
The 14th ranked Utah Utes were unable to defeat Florida on the road in their season opener and are still the favorites to win the Pac 12 Conference. On Saturday, Utah stepped down in competition to score a 73-7 home victory versus FCS Southern Utah. The Utes (1-1) led 45-7 at halftime and outgained the Thunderbirds by a ridiculous 599-85 margin.
Junior RB Tavion Thomas scored the first two Utah touchdowns and finished with 48 rushing yards on 11 carries. Cameron Rising contributed 254 passing yards and three scores for the Utes.
