A pair of Southwest Division rivals take the floor looking to put a game in the win column as they collide in the Big Easy. The Memphis Grizzlies are on the road as they make the trip to take on the New Orleans Pelicans Tuesday night. Memphis was in action Monday night as they were on the road in Oklahoma City to face the Thunder in the front game of a back-to-back set. The Grizzlies were downed 103-96 at home by the Rockets in the home portion of a home-and-home set Friday night, failing to cover the line as a 2.5-point underdog. New Orleans steamrolled San Antonio 146-110 on the road Sunday night in their previous game, covering the line as an eight-point favorite. In the all-time regular season series between the teams, the Pelicans own a 43-36 advantage and have won the last two meetings. That includes a 111-104 road win in the first matchup this season on October 25.

Memphis was in action on the road against Oklahoma City in the first game of a back-to-back set that closes here. The Grizzlies entered Monday night 6-18 on the season and stood fourth in the Southwest Division, 9.5 games behind the Mavericks for the top spot in the division. They were 13th in the Western Conference standings, 13 games behind the Timberwolves for the top spot, 8.5 games behind the Clippers for the final guaranteed playoff spot and seven games behind the Suns for the final spot in the play-in tournament. Memphis is 0-3 in the second game of back-to-back situations with a -5.3-ppg scoring differential (105 ppg for, 110.3 ppg against) this season. The Grizzlies entered Monday 5-7 on the road with a -3.7-ppg scoring margin (108.3 ppg for, 112 ppg against) on the year. Memphis is 5-15 against Western Conference teams with a -7.5-ppg scoring differential (106 ppg for, 113.5 ppg against) entering Monday night.

On the season, the Grizzlies are 30th in the league in scoring offense as they average 106 points per game this season. Memphis has their issues that has forced them to retool their rotation. Steven Adams was lost for the season with a knee injury before the season began. Brandon Clarke is out indefinitely as he recovers from a torn Achilles: he last played on March 3, 2023. Smart (foot) is out until late December while Kennard (knee) is also out until late December. Biyombo (back) was doubtful for Monday’s contest against the Thunder so watch for any new information regarding the injury front. Rose (hamstring) is out with no current timetable to return to action. On the plus side, Ja Morant finishes his 25-game suspension Monday night so he is el igible to return to action in this contest.
