Golden State Warriors (10-13) vs. Portland Trail Blazers (6-17)

The 2023-24 NBA season continues Sunday, December 17, with a busy five-game slate including this Western Conference showdown at Mode Center in Portland, Oregon, so here’s the best Warriors vs. Trail Blazers pick.

This is the second meeting between these teams. Golden State won the first meeting on December 6, 110-106, and they have won the last three meetings overall. Gary Payton and Draymond Green are out for Golden State while Jerami Grant is a game-time decision for the Trail Blazers.

Nobody does it better when it comes to NBA picks!

The Golden State Warriors (10-13, 10-13-0 ATS) lost their third straight game when they fell to the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday, 121-113. They take on the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday, but this preview was written prior to the conclusion of the contest. Golden State is in a rut of late, not only losers of three straight but have lost 12 of their last 16 contests.

A huge second quarter by the Clippers blew this game open. The Warriors took nine more shots than L.A., but hit only 43.5% of their attempts and went to the line just 19 times. That loss was the seventh in a row on the road for the Warriors who are now 5-8 away from San Francisco.

“It was tough, because Draymond is a huge part of what we do, and we’re going to miss him dearly,” Thompson said. “We know he’s going to come back even better, a changed person. I’ll miss him just as a friend and a brother. Love him to death, and I can’t wait until he comes back. Obviously, there’s a big hole on our team right now, but we’re going to do the best we can in his absence and keep playing our hardest.”

Klay Thompson was a monster in this game, scoring 30 points and adding five assists. Thompson has averaged 16.0 ppg but has stepped up his game over the last 10, averaging 18.7 ppg thanks to 41.5% shooting, including 39.8% from beyond the three-point line.

It is surprising to see how Golden State has struggled, hitting 45.1% of their shots, 26th overall . They are 16th in three-point shooting (36.6%) but considering that 40 of their average shots per game come from three-point range (40 of 90). That is not great.
