The Panthers dropped to 17-10-2 on the season and entered Friday tied for second in the Atlantic Division, four points behind the Bruins for the top spot in the standings. They were two points ahead of the Red Wings for the final guaranteed playoff spot in the division. Florida is tied for 23rd in the league in goals per game as they put up an average of 2.93 goals a night this season. The Panthers are 7th in the league in goals against as they allow an average of 2.62 goals per contest. Florida is 20th in power play success as they have cashed in on 17.6% of their chances with the man advantage this season. A gainst Vancouver Thursday night, Florida struggled to get anything going offensively as they were shut out for the second straight contest. Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 13 of 17 shots before getting the hook after two periods of play. Anthony Stolarz stopped the only shot he faced in the third period for the Panthers, who held a 36-18 edge in shots, in the loss. Bobrovsky is slated to get the start in goal for this contest as well.
