The San Antonio Spurs play host to the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night in a rematch of the Lakers' Wednesday night win from the Frost Bank Center. It wasn't easy for LA two nights ago but the win gave them their fifth in six games, as they continue to move up the Western Conference standings. For San Antonio, they are mired in a lengthy losing streak and with only three wins on the season, sit in 15th place in the West. The Lakers have won five straight between these two, as they haven't lost to them in the last two seasons. They are favorites again in this one, which could end up being an exciting showdown.

Many expected a slight drop off after the Lakers took home the in season tournament last weekend, though that hasn’t seemed to be the case. Just two nights ago, LA was able to take down the Spurs in this same stadium. While not noteworthy on the surface, the win on Wednesday came without Lebron James in the lineup, showing the depth that this team has this season. The road hasn’t been too kind for the Lakers this season, as they only have a 5-8 record away from home, though getting to take on San Antonio doesn’t give them too daunting of an opponent. This one marks their third road game in a row, which is a definite concern, though they still expect to come out on top given the experience and talent that they have on hand.

The concern for LA is the growing length of their injury report as the road trip continues. Six players appea r on the report, though Jalen Hood-Schifino is the only one already ruled out. The two main names to keep an eye on are Anthony Davis and Lebron James, both of whom are questionable. If even one of those two can’t go, it’s likely to even the playing field.

The Lakers continue to find wins despite their numbers being rather pedestrian on both ends. They do rank fifth in the league in field-goal percentage but sit in the bottom third in a number of other categories. As mentioned earlier, this means that being without James (25.3 ppg) or Davis (23.9 ppg) could seriously cut into their offensive production. They do have some experienced players waiting in the wings and as long as the defense continues to play hard and most importantly, play together, this team can continue to find success.
