Winnipeg Jets (16-8-2) vs. Los Angeles Kings (16-5-4)

The 2023-24 NHL season goes on Wednesday, December 13, with a five-game slate, so we are breaking down the Western Conference showdown from Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California, to get you the best Jets vs. Kings pick.

Winnipeg meets Los Angeles for the second time this term. The Kings beat the Jets 5-1 as +115 road dogs on October 17, and Los Angeles aims for its fourth consecutive victory over Winnipeg.

Tuesday’s games have been excluded from the analysis, and the Winnipeg Jets visited the San Jose Sharks, looking for their fifth straight win. Over their previous four outings, the Jets have recorded a couple of home wins over the Chicago Blackhawks 3-1 and the Carolina Hurricanes 2-1 along with a pair of road wins against the Colorado Avalanche 4-2 and the Anaheim Ducks 4-2.

Winnipeg leans on its defense, allowing just 2.65 goals per game (7th in the NHL). The Jets score 3.27 goals per contest (tied-13th). They certainly need more from their special teams, as Winnipeg ranks 23rd in power-play percentage (17.6%) a nd 25th in penalty-killing percentage (75.6%).

Laurent Brossoit (3-2-1; 2.65 GAA; .903 SV%) was projected to guard the cage against the Sharks on Tuesday night. Hereof, we should see Connor Hellebuyck in the crease on Wednesday, and the 30-year-old netminder is 13-6-1 with a 2.45 GAA and a .915 save percentage this season. Hellebuyck is undefeated in three straight starts.
