The 2023-24 NHL season continues Friday, December 8, with the Minnesota Wild facing off against the Edmonton Oilers in the Western Conference showdown at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, with the puck drop at 9:00 PM ET.

Minnesota and Edmonton continue their three-game regular-season series. Back in October, the Wild defeated the Oilers 7-4 at home. Minnesota has dominated Edmonton over the last few years, winning nine of their previous ten encounters, so let’s find the best Wild vs. Oilers pick for Friday night.

Thursday’s games have been excluded from the analysis, and the Minnesota Wild visited the Vancouver Canucks, searching for their fifth consecutive victory. Minnesota has won four straight contests since John Hynes replaced Dean Evason as a head coach, outlasting St. Louis 3-1, Nashville 6-1, Chicago 4-1, and Calgary 5-2.

The Wild visited the Flames last Tuesday to start a four-game road trip. They were outshot by Calgary 30-29, but Minnesota was in full control for all 60 minutes. The Wild needed a minute and 26 seconds to break the deadlock and had a 3-0 lead after just 1:30 of play in the second period.

Filip Gustavsson (5-6-2; 3.35 GAA; .894 save percentage) has guarded the cage three times since John Hynes took over as Minnesota’s head coach. He was confirmed for Thursday’s clash against Vancouver which means we should see Marc-Andre Fleury (4-4-2; 3.21 GAA; .884 SV%) in the crease on Friday. Fleury has emerged victorious once over his last four starts.
