The Tampa Bay Lightning face the Nashville Predators with both teams looking to improve on promising starts to the season. The Lightning have an 11-10-5 record and are in the middle of the Atlantic Division. The Predators have a 13-12 record and with eight wins in their last 10 games, they have leaped out of the bottom of the Central Division. The Lightning are having a promising season with their offense stepping up and scoring 3.35 goals per game. Nikita Kucherov and Brayden Point have scored 28 goals and 44 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has been great as well. Steven Stamkos, Brandon Hagel, and Nick Paul have combined for 28 goals and 31 assists while defenseman Victor Hedman has added five goals and 20 assists from the point to open up the offense.

The offense has been great but the defense has let them down this year, allowing 3.58 goals per game. Victor Hedman and Erik Cernak have combined for 2.5 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net with ease. Additionally, goaltender Jonas Johansson has struggled with a .892 save percentage and a 3.44 goals-against average on 584 shots with -6.5 goals saved above average.
