The Minnesota Wild face the Calgary Flames with both teams looking to improve on rocky seasons. The Wild have an 8-10-4 record which is the second-worst in the Central Division but they've won three games in a row since hiring interim head coach John Hynes. The Flames have a 10-11-3 record and are in the middle of the Pacific Division. Both teams look to make up ground in the Western Conference and the upcoming game should be a good one.

The Wild are having a rough season but since hiring John Hynes, they have stepped up on the offensive end of the ice, scoring 3.14 goals per game with 10 goals in the last two games. Kirill Kaprizov, Mats Zuccarello, and Joel Eriksson Ek have combined for 24 goals and 41 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has stepped up as well. Marco Rossi, Pat Maroon, and Ryan Hartman have combined for 18 goals and 18 assists while defensemen Brock Faber and Jacob Middleton have added five goals and 15 assists from the point to open up the offense.

The offense has stepped up but the defense remains a weakness, allowing 3.55 goals per game. Jonas Brodin and Brock Faber have combined for 2.5 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net with ease. In addition, goaltender Filip Gustavsson has struggled with a .891 s ave percentage and a 3.46 goals-against average on 387 shots with -4.5 goals saved above average.
