The George Mason Patriots are off to a hot start to their season, winning seven of their eight games. When assessing non-conference slates, looking at the spreads will let you know how challenging the schedule is. George Mason has seven wins, but they were favored to win in seven of their games. They lost to Charlotte as a small favorite, and defeated Toledo as an underdog. It has not been a cupcake schedule, yes they were favored in seven games, but only two of those were double-digit spreads leading to easy wins. In their last game, the Patriots were led by forward Amari Kelly with 24 points and 10 rebounds in the win.

The Patriots are led in scoring by 6'7 wing Keyshawn Hall with 15.1 PPG, and he also leads the team with 9.4 RPG. Hall transferred in from UNLV, and has a solid all around game with the ability to score inside or hit the three. Hall struggled in his last two games, as he scored under 10 in each. Amari Kelly is a 6'9 forward who came in from UNC-Wilmington, he averages 13.8 PPG and 7.5 RPG this season, and is coming off the big 24-point gamer against Toledo. Darius Maddox is the top shooter on the team, he has made 18 threes on the season and adds another 13.1 PPG. Like his teammates, Maddox is another transfer as he played with Virginia Tech last season. Roland Polite III is the only returning contributor for the team, the 6'2 point guard adds 8.9 PPG and leads the team with 3.3 APG.

George Mason is currently ranked 96th overall in KenPom. They are a balanced team as their offense ranks 96th in efficiency and their defense ranks 103rd. They play very slow offensively, their tempo ranks 332nd out of 362 Division I teams based on their pace of play.
