The Atlanta Braves have been red hot, and now the Mets' lead is down to half a game in the NL East. New York won its last two games over Pittsburgh 5-1 and 10-0 in a doubleheader on Wednesday before being off on Thursday. Friday's game was not complete at the time of this preview. The tight race has more to do with how excellent the Braves have been lately, as the Mets are 18-12 in their last 30 games, but the Braves are 22-8 during that stretch.

Carlos Carrasco (13-6, 3.91 ERA) will get the start for the Mets on Saturday. He is 5-4 on the road this season with a 4.76 ERA in 10 games. Against the Marlins Carrasco is 2-0 with a 2.29 ERA in three games. He allowed five runs in 2.2 innings against Washington last Sunday, but four of those runs were unearned. It was his first start since he was injured on August 15 in a 13-1 loss to Atlanta. Prior to his last two losses, the Braves had won seven straight starts made by Carrasco.
