The Nashville Predators face the Buffalo Sabres with both teams looking to improve on rough starts to the season. The Predators have an 11-12 record and with two losses in a row, they are in sixth place in the Central Division. The Sabres have a 10-12-2 record and with back-to-back losses, they are near the bottom of the Atlantic Division. The Predators are having a promising season with their offense stepping up and scoring 3.23 goals per game. Filip Forsberg, Ryan O'Reilly, and Gustav Nyquist have scored 25 goals and 37 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has stepped up as well. Luke Evangelista, Colton Sissons, and Keifer Sherwood have combined for 14 goals and 19 assists while defenseman Roman Josi has added four goals and 12 assists from the point to open up the offense.

The offense has been great but the defense has struggled, allowing 3.27 goals per game including 10 goals in the last two games. Alexandre Carrier, Ryan McDonagh, and Dante Fabbro have combined for 2.8 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to carry the puck into the offensive zone and easily find open shots on the net. In addition, goaltender Juuse Saros has struggled with a .895 save percentage and a 3.17 goals-against average on 496 shots with -3.9 goals saved above average.
