The Ottawa Senators face the Columbus Blue Jackets with both teams looking to improve on rough seasons. The Senators are having a rough season despite their offense stepping up and scoring 3.47 goals per game. Tim Stutzle and Claude Giroux have scored 10 goals and 28 assists to lead the top line but the rest of the offense has stepped up as well. Brady Tkachuk, Mathieu Joseph, and Vladimir Tarasenko have combined for 17 goals and 26 assists while defensemen Jakob Chychrun and Jake Sanderson have added nine goals and 15 assists from the point to open up the offense.

The offense has stepped up but the defense has been awful this season, allowing 3.47 goals per game with 10 goals in the last two games. Jakob Chychrun and Travis Hamonic have combined for 1.4 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net with ease. In addition, goaltender Joonas Korpisalo has struggled with a .902 save percentage and a 3.34 goals-against average on 368 shots with -0.4 goals saved above average.
