Wednesday’s games have been excluded from the analysis, and the Washington Capitals visited the Los Angeles Kings, looking to snap their two-game skid. Over their previous two outings, the Caps have lost to the Edmonton Oilers 5-0 and at the San Jose Sharks 2-1.

Last Monday, the Capitals suffered a surprising defeat. They were listed as firm -240 moneyline favorites to outlast the lowly Sharks. Washington outshot San Jose 34-23 but scored just once against Mackenzie Blackwood while going 0-for-3 with the man advantage.

The Capitals are 31st in the NHL in goals for (2.33 per game) and eighth in goals against (2.78). Darcy Kuemper guarded the cage against the Sharks last Monday, while Charlie Lindgren yielded five goals on 35 shots in that 5-0 blanking at the hands of Edmonton. Lindgren (2.51 GAA; .926 SV%) fell to 4-2-0 on the season, and Kuemper (2.95 GAA, .894 SV%) was sitting at 4-4-2.
