The Liberty Flames are 1-0 this season after defeating Southern Miss by a score of 29-27 in four overtimes in Week 1. Liberty scored with 36 seconds left in the fourth quarter to tie the game and their defense stepped up to get the win in the fourth overtime. Kaidon Salter threw for 148 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception, while also adding 65 rushing yards for the Flames. Dae Dae Hunter rushed for 62 yards, while Demario Douglas caught five passes for 97 yards and two scores in the Liberty win. The Liberty defense allowed 389 yards and was able to force five turnovers in the game.
