The Memphis Grizzlies play host to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday evening in a Western Conference showdown from FedEx Forum. The Timberwolves are off to a quick start on the season, bringing in an 11-4 record and looking to stay near the top of the standings. On the other side, it has been an unusually slow start for the Grizzlies, as a 3-12 record has cast serious concern over the direction of the team. Across four meetings last season, the two teams split the season series, though this is the first meeting between the two this season, which should have fans tuned in.

While the record has been impressive this season, coming off a loss the last time out has this group looking to get back into the win column in this one. Minnesota just finished up a three-game homestand that saw the grab impressive wins against the Knicks and 76ers, though a loss to the Kings still stings. The record is impressive, as noted, though a 4-3 record in road games certainly leaves something to be desired. The road struggles plagued this team last season and the last thing they want is to get into a rhythm where these types of games hold them back. The road schedule has been a challenge so far, so a trip to Memphis should be welcomed for this group. Regardless, there's no doubt that the Timberwolves will be looking for a road win in this one.

Minnesota has a trio of injuries that they carry into the end of the weekend, though none appear too notable. Jaden McDaniels (ankle) is probably the most notable name, which is good news for Minnesota. It shouldn't come as a surprise though for this team to find wins as the health has improved as well.

On the offensive end, the Timberwolves are sixth in the league in field-goal percentage, though sit middle of the road in most other offensive categories. Anthony Edwards (26.7 ppg) has taken over as the leader, while Karl-Anthony Towns (22 ppg) adds plenty of scoring depth himself. After Towns, the scoring depth falls off quite a bit though, which shows how the defensive has come about to find success. They rank second in the league in field-goal percentage defense and third against the three-point shot. There ability to set the tone on the defensive end, should come in handy in this promising matchup against a struggling offense.
