I’m keeping this strictly basketball related after Josh Giddey’s off-the-court allegations. Giddey, from a scoring standpoint, has been a real disappointment this season. Many anticipated that with Chet Holmgren making his way into the starting lineup, Giddey would take a backseat, but not to this extent. He’s averaging 12.3 points per game after over 16 a game last season. Not only are his shooting splits down, but so are his minutes and field goal attempts.
Giddey and the Thunder will meet with the Philadelphia 76ers and their stifling defense on Saturday to begin the NBA slate. This Nick Nurse-led team has the 76ers playing just like he wants them to – at a slow pace and defensive-minded. They rank in the top 11 in defensive efficiency while playing at a middle-of-the-league pace. Expect the stars to shine for both squads while Giddey stays under his points line for the 10th time in 15 games with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in the lineup.
