The Sabres are having a rough season with their offense struggling, scoring only 2.84 goals per game. John-Jason Peterka and Casey Middlestadt have scored 11 goals and 19 assists but the rest of the offense has struggled. Only five active skaters have four goals or more and opposing defenses can limit the top-heavy offense as a result.

The offense has struggled but the defense has let the Sabres down, allowing only 3.21 goals per game. Rasmus Dahlin and Owen Power have combined for 1.9 defensive point shares and 66 blocked shots but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to carry the puck into the offensive zone and easily find open shots on the net. The one bright spot has been the play of goaltender Ukko-Pekka-Luukkonen who has a .911 save percentage and a 2.80 goals-against average on 247 shots with 2.1 goals saved above average.
