It’s a NFC South battle on the gridiron as a pair of teams battling for the division lead take the field in Hotlanta. The New Orleans Saints are on the road as they make the trip to face the Atlanta Falcons Sunday afternoon. New Orleans comes in off a bye week last week: they were beaten 27-19 on the road by the Vikings November 12, losing outright as a three-point favorite. Atlanta also comes in off a bye as their last game was a 25-23 road loss to Arizona, handing them an outright loss as a two-point favorite. In the all-time regular season series between the teams, the Saints own a narrow 54-53 advantage and have taken eight of the last 10 meetings, including the last three. The Saints won the most recent matchup, 21-18, at home on December 18, 2022.

New Orleans comes in off a bye hoping to get themselves going in the right direction after seeing their two-game win streak halted by the Vikings in their previous game. The Saints enter this game 5-5 on the season, which is good enough for a one-game lead over Tampa Bay and Atlanta for the top spot in the NFC South. Against Minnesota, the game was tied at three after the opening quarter but gave up 24 unanswered points to trail 27-3 early in the third quarter. They rallied to make it a one-score game with 11:40 to play but punted after a three-and-out followed by a pair of interceptions on their final three drives. New Orleans was outgained 388-280 in total offense, gave up 23 first downs while picking up 16, turned the ball over twice while failing to record a takeaway and lost time of possession by a 33:06 to 26:54 margin.

On the season, the Saints stand 11th in the league in passing o ffense with 237.4 yards per contest while they are 22nd in rushing offense with 100 yards per game. New Orleans is 16th in the league in scoring offense with 21.4 points per contest while they are 8th in the league in scoring defense by allowing an average of 19.8 points a game. Derek Carr is 220 of 334 passing for 2,231 yards with 10 touchdowns and four interceptions. He has been sacked 19 times. Taysom Hill is five of six for 72 yards plus a score and is second on the team with 261 yards plus three scores on 49 carries. Jameis Winston is 23 of 42 for 223 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions in his action. Jamaal Williams has 45 carries for 131 yards while Alvin Kamara (104 carries, 388 yards, two TD), Tony Jones Jr. (21 carries, 70 yards, two TD) and Kendre Miller (28 carries, 83 yards) have seen work on the ground as well. Chris Olave leads the team with 56 receptions for 657 yards and three touchdowns this season. Michael Thomas (39 catches, 448 yards, TD), Rashid Shaheed (31 grabs, 525 yards, three TD), Kamara (50 receptions, 305 yards, TD), Hill (20 grabs, 142 yards, TD) and tight end Juwan Johnson (14 receptions, 97 yards, TD) are solid targets. Blake Grupe is 19 of 19 on extra point attempts and 19 of 24 on field goal attempts with a long of 55 on the year.

The Saints have a relatively quiet injury report. Michael Thomas was placed on injured reserve earlier this week, taking him out of the mix. Cornerback Marshon Lattimore (ankle) and running back Kendre Miller (ankle) were the only two players to not practice Wednesday or Thursday. Tackle Ryan Ramczyk (rest/knee) didn’t practice Wednesday and was limited Thursday while defensive end Isaiah Foskey (quad) was limited both days. Watch for any new information regarding their statuses.
