The Connecticut Huskies (2-9, Indep.) pay a visit to Amherst, Massachusetts and Warren McGuirk Alumni stadium on Saturday to play the Massachusetts Minutemen (3-8, Indep.). UConn defeated Sacred Heart 31-3 last Saturday, snapping a four-game losing streak. UMass was defeated by the Liberty Flames 49-25 last Saturday, snapping a two-game winning streak for the Minutemen. Connecticut will play without QB Joe Fagnano and TE Alex Honig. UMass will play without RB Tim Baldwin Jr, QB Carlos Davis and WR Jacquon Gibson.

The UConn Huskies have had problems all season putting the ball into the end zone or between the uprights as the Huskies are scoring an average of only 18 points per game which is 126th. Connecticut averages 127.2 yards rushing and 191.8 yards passing for 319.0 yards of total offense per game which is 112th. Connecticut quarterback Ta’Quan Robertson has 1,901 yards passing with 12 touchdowns and six interceptions, while running back Camryn Edwards has rushed for a team best 516 yards and two touchdowns. Justin Joly has 50 receptions for 542 yards with two touchdowns to lead UConn.

 

The Connecticut defense cannot hold its own against opponents as the Huskies are allowing an average of 30.9 points and 418.8 yards per game which are 106th and 112 respectively. Opponents are averaging 157.4 yards rushing per game and 2 61.5 yards passing per game which puts Connecticut at 81st and 121st respectively. Linebacker Jackson Mitchell has 106 tackles to lead Connecticut and is 39 tackles more than any other player.
