The Houston Cougars (4-7, 5-6 ATS, 5-6 O/U) battle the Central Florida Knights (5-6, 5-6 ATS, 6-5 O/U) in a Big 12 bout on Saturday evening. The Cougars were dealt a home loss by Oklahoma State last week. The Knights lost a road decision against Texas Tech in their previous bout. These squads last met in 2020 in a game UCF won by a 44-21 mark.

When it comes to college football picks, our NCAAF Predictions are stellar.

The Houston Cougars are attempting to reach five wins on the season. It’s been a disappointing season for a program playing its first year in the BIG 12. They were 3-3 but have since lost four of their last five bouts. The lone win in that span was an overtime win against Baylor early this month. They lost 24-14 to Cincinnati two weeks ago and were 6.5 point dogs in a 43-30 home loss against Oklahoma State last week to dip to 2-6 in conference play. They have covered in one of their last three decisions.

Donovan Smith is struggling recently. The junior QB has chucked nine picks in his last five games. He recorded 235 passing yards last week and has recorded 2640 passing yards along with a 21:12 TD to INT ratio on the season. Houston has a subpar running game and usually opt for the pass more than the run. Parker Jenkins has reached 100 rushing yards once this season. The freshman RB has collected 456 rushing yards on 4.9 yards per rush.

Samuel Brown has been a bright spot. The sophomore WR has surpassed 100 yards on three occasions this season and has reported 815 receiving yards. The Houston offense has netted 25 or fewer points in four of their last five decisions.

The Cougars' defense is a major weakness and a big reason they only have four wins. They have squandered 39 or more points five times this season. The group has allowed just 24 points in the opening two games of November but gave up 43 points on 501 yards against OK State last week. The pass defense is pegged at 115th and the rush defense is a bit better at 93rd.

Houston is scoring an average of 24.6 points on the season, marking them 84th. They are conceding an average of 31.9 points, positioning them 113th.
