The Mountain West Conference closes out their regular season play with a matchup between the Fresno State Bulldogs (8-3, 4-7 ATS, 4-3 MWC) and the San Diego State Aztecs (3-8, 6-5 ATS, 1-6 MWC) on Saturday night. Fresno will be headed to a bowl game, and sit at 6th in the Mountain West, while San Diego State will be playing their final game as they are last in the conference. Fresno is coming off a surprising home loss to New Mexico, losing 25-17 as 22.5-point favorites. San Diego State just lost on the road to San Jose State, going down 24-13, but covered the spread as 16.5-point dogs. Fresno State is currently listed as 5-point road favorites. Kickoff is scheduled for 10:30 EST from Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego, and can be found on FS1.

Fresno State started the season 8-1, with strong wins over Purdue, Arizona State, UNLV, and Boise State. The Bulldogs were poised for a postseason run, until they lost back to back games in the past two weeks. Fresno lost to San Jose State, they were just 2-point underdogs, but lost by by 24 to the Spartans. Then they lost to a New Mexico team that they were supposed to beat by 22 points. The losses pushed them back to 6th in the standings, when they were just competing for the regular season title two weeks ago.
Fresno State is led by 5'11 sophomore Mikey Keene at quarterback, he averages 218.7 passing yards per game, and has a 21-8 TD-INT ratio on the season. Keene is questionable to play in this matchup, as he is still recovering from a concussion. Malik Sherrod has been the top running back for the Bulldogs, he is averaging 67.1 rushing yards per game with seven touchdowns. Sherrod is a smal l back at 5'8 and 173-pounds, he relies on his quickness to find yards up the middle. The Bulldogs have two receivers that share the majority of the targets; 5'7 Erick Brooks averages 59.8 yards per game with five touchdowns, and 6'1 Jalen Moss adds another 55.7 YPG with five touchdowns.
Fresno ranks 5th out of 12 teams in the Mountain West in scoring with 31.0 points per game, and their defense is even better, ranking 2nd in scoring defense by only allowing 23.8 points per. Defensive back Dean Clark leads the team in tackles with 70, while defensive lineman Jacob Holmes leads the team in sacks with four. Defensive back Carlton Johnson has four interceptions out of the secondary. The defense has an impressive 22 takeaways over 11 games.
