It has been a forgettable season for Wake Forest after starting the season at 3-0. Since then they have gone 1-7 and have been knocked out of bowl contention. Michael Kerr made his first career start for Wake and finished the game 11-of-20 for just 81 yards. Wide receiver Jahmal Banks had five catches for 35 yards. Banks also completed a pass in the game and had a 20-yard run in a complete effort. In all, the Deacons had 14 first downs and just 232 yards of total offense. Defensively, the Deacons allowed 25 first downs and 313 yards of total offense to the Irish.
“I think our guys played hard. I can’t fault the effort. We got one more week to play as a team, and I’ve been really impressed with the way these guys have s tuck together and continue to practice hard and give effort. And just today, we got beat by a much, much better football team.” Wake head coach Dave Clawson said after the loss.
