The Virginia Tech Hokies need a win to secure bowl eligibility. The squad is at five wins after going a decent 3-2 in their last five decisions. This included an ugly 34-3 road loss to Louisville to begin November, a dominating 48-22 road victory against Boston College two weeks ago, and was marked as two-point favorites in a 35-28 home loss to a good NC State team last week to dip to 4-3 in ACC play. The Hokies have covered the spread in one of their last three games.

Kyron Drones recorded 219 passing yards two weeks ago and 225 yards against a good defense last week. The sophomore QB was not originally the #1 QB but the injury to Wells gave him an opportunity. Drones has registered 1739 passing yards along with a 12:3 TD to INT ratio.

The Hokies usually run more than pass. Bayshul Tuten has reached 100 rushing yards twi ce including 118 yards against Syracuse. The junior RB has accrued 610 rushing yards on 4.5 yards per rush. Da’Quan Felton brought in 87 receiving yards last week to catapult into the lead with 534 yards while Jaylin Lane has 524 yards. The Virginia Tech offense has been producing recently, collecting at least 28 points in four of their last five games.

The Hokies' defense is a strength but has not been quite as sharp this month. They squandered 34 against Louisville and 35 points on 408 total yards against NC State. Their best performance came in the win against Syracuse, conceding just 10 points. The pass defense is among the best, ranking eighth while the rush defense has been exploited and stands 85th.

Virginia Tech is averaging 26.2 points on the season, marking them 73rd. They are conceding an average of 24.9 points, placing them 60th.
