Calgary Flames (6-8-3) vs. Seattle Kraken (7-8-4)

The Calgary Flames and Seattle Kraken are both off to a disappointing start to the season. They lock horns Monday, November 20, 2023, in the Pacific Division showdown at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Washington, so here’s the best Flames vs. Kraken pick.

Calgary meets Seattle for the second time in 2023-24. Back on November 4, the Flames beat the Kraken 6-3 as +100 road underdogs. Calgary is a +105 road dog this time around, while Seattle is listed as a -118 moneyline fave with a total of 6.0 goals.

The Calgary Flames just split a two-game homestand. After a 5-2 victory over the Vancouver Canucks, the Flames lost to the New York Islanders 5-4 in a shootout this past Saturday. It was their third loss in five games, and the Flames were sitting at the sixth spot in the Pacific Division on Sunday, three points behind the No. 5 Seattle Kraken.

Calgary outshot the Islanders 39-33 but went 0-for-3 with the man advantage. Four different players found the back of the net for the Flames including Yegor Sharangovich, while Connor Zary and Nazem Kadri accounted for a couple of dishes apiece.

The Flames are scoring just 2.82 goals per game (tied-24th in the NHL). Their power-play percentage of 12.7 is the seventh-worst in the league. On the other side of the puck, the Flames rank 20th in goals against (3.35 per game) and sixth in penalty-killing percentage (85.7%).

Jakob Markstrom has guarded the cage in each of Calgary’s last three games. He’s 4-6-2 with a 2.75 GAA and a .903 save percentage this season, while Dan Vladar has gone 2-1-1 with a 3.92 GAA and a .858 SV% thus far. Markstrom is expected to patrol the crease Monday in Seattle.
