The New York Rangers face the New Jersey Devils with both teams looking to build off of strong starts to the season. The Rangers have an 11-2-1 record and with nine wins in their last 10 games, they have the best record in the Metropolitan Division. The Devils have an 8-6-1 record and are in fourth place in the Metropolitan Division following a statement 5-2 road win. Both teams look to remain near the top of the division and the Eastern Conference and the upcoming game should be a great one.

The Rangers are having a great season with their offense stepping up and scoring 3.29 goals per game. Artemi Panarin and Chris Kreider have scored 18 goals and 20 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has stepped up as well. Alexis Lafreniere, Vincent Trocheck, and Mika Zibanejad have combined for 13 goals and 19 assists while defensemen Erik Gustafsson and K'Andre Miller have added four goals and 13 assists from the point to open up the offense.

The offense has been great but the defense is one of the best in the NHL, allowing only 2.14 goals per game including only four goals in the last two games. Erik Gustafsson and K'Andre Miller have combined for 2.7 defensive point shares and 36 blocked shots while Jacob Trouba and Ryan Lindgren have combined for 1.9 defensive point shares to give the Rangers two great defensive pairings. In addition, goaltender Igor Shesterkin is having a great season with a .913 save percentage and a 2.36 goals-against average on 206 shots with 2.0 goals saved above average.
