New York Mets vs. Miami Marlins Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 9-9-2022

The New York Mets (87-51, 75-63 RL, 68-62-8 O/U) and the Miami Marlins (55-80, 62-73 RL, 57-73-5 O/U) open a three-game divisional series on Friday evening. The Mets will likely give the nod to David Peterson. The Marlins will send rookie Edward Cabrera to the hill. The Mets lead the season series 10-4.

The Mets will likely have David Peterson start the opener on Friday night. Peterson was decent in his previous start, allowing three runs on eight hits in 5.1 innings against the Nationals and finished with the no-decision in a game the Mets won. The young left-hander has conceded three or fewer runs in each of his last four outings and has recorded a 3.32 ERA and a 1.31 WHIP accompanied by a 7-3 record in 95 innings. Peterson has limited the Marlins to just two runs in 12.1 innings this year and is 2-0 with a 2.08 ERA in three meetings against the foes.

The Mets cannot afford to overlook the Marlins considering they only have a one-game lead ahead of the Braves atop the division. They are stumbling. They lost two of three against the Nats last weekend and rebounded with two wins in three meetings in Pittsburgh this week.

Francisco Lindor has feasted on th e Marlins this season, accumulating a remarkable 17 RBIs and a .950 OPS. The 28-year-old has cooled down recently but has 21 big flies with 89 RBIs and a .778 OPS on the season. Lindor has four RBIs and a .609 OPS so far on the month.

The Mets are posting an average of 4.66 runs, good for seventh overall. The pitching staff features a 3.55 team ERA, landing them seventh in the Major Leagues.
