A pair of Eastern Conference teams take the ice in search of a victory as they collide in search of a win in Beantown. The New York Islanders are on the road as they make the trip to the northeast as they take on the Boston Bruins Thursday night. New York was dropped 4-2 at home by Minnesota in their previous contest Tuesday night. Boston picked up a 3-2 road victory over Dallas in their previous contest Monday night. In the last 10 meetings between the teams, the Islanders own a 5-4-1 advantage but the Bruins have taken the last four meetings. That includes a 6-2 home victory in the most recent matchup on February 18, 2023.

New York dropped their second straight and third in the last four games as they fell at home to Minnesota Tuesday night. The Islanders entered Wednesday fourth in the Metropolitan Division with a 5-3-3 record, six points behind the Rangers for the top spot. New York is tied for 26th in goals per game as they average 2.64 goals per contest. The Islanders are tied for 6th in goals against per game as they allow 2.82 goals a night. New York is tied for 23rd in power play success as they convert 15.2% of their chances with the man advantage this season. The Islanders are tied for 14th in penalty killing as they successfully get through 79.5% of their shorthanded situations this year.

Against Minnesota, New York played tough hockey for two periods but gave up goals on consecutive shots in the third period to wind up with the loss. The Islanders were outshot 9-6 in the opening period of play and skated off tied at one on the scoreboard after 20 minutes of play. After falling behind 1-0 just 19 seconds into the game, Noah Dobson knotted the game with his fourth goal of the season at the 11:00 mark off assists from Casey Cizikas and Cal Clutterbuck. In the second period, New York held a 15-12 shot advantage with each team scoring once, leaving the game even at two after 40 minutes of play. Oliver Wahlstrom gave the Islanders a 2-1 lead with his first goal of the season, on the power play, at 8:34 off assists from Pierre Engvall and Sebastian Aho. They allowed the equalizer later in the period to knot things up heading to the final period. In the third period, the Islanders were outshot 10-8 and outscored 2-0 to wind up with the loss. Semyon Varlamov made 27 saves for the Islanders, who were outshot 31-29, in the loss. Ilya Sorokin is slated to get the start between the pipes for this contest.
