The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns (1-0) will host the Eastern Michigan Eagles (1-0) on Saturday in a Sun Belt vs. Mid-American Conference matchup.

 

After finishing 7-6 last season, the Eagles welcome back eighth offensive and six defensive starters. In the preseason media poll, they were selected to finish fourth in the MAC West Division.

Last Friday, Eastern Michigan Eagles took a 28-10 lead midway through the third quarter and held on to a 42-34 win over Eastern Kentucky. They won the game but were 492 to 395 by Eastern Kentucky, as the Colonels added a late touchdown.

Transfer quarterback Taylor Powell led the offense with 21 of 30 completions for 271 passing yards, three passing touchdowns, one interception, and a rushing touchdown. Powell began his career at Missouri and played six games for Troy last season. The rushing attack was led by Samson Evans, who had 89 yards on 15 carries with two touchdowns last week. In 2021, he only rushed for 316 yards on 83 carries last season but led the team with 13 touchdowns.
