The Senators have watched their season spiral out of control despite boasting a remarkable offense, scoring 3.80 goals per game. Brady Tkachuk, Claude Giroux, and Tim Stutzle have scored 13 goals and 20 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has stepped up as well. Vladimir Tarasenko, Joshua Norris, and Mathieu Joseph have combined for 10 goals and 15 assists while defensemen Jakob Chychrun and Jake Sanderson have added seven goals and 11 assists from the point to open up the offense.

The offense has been great but the defense has been awful, allowing 3.50 goals per game including nine goals in the last two games. Jakob Chychrun, Artem Zub, and Jacob Bernard-Docker have combined for 1.1 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net at will. In addition, goaltender Joonas Korpisalo has struggled with a  .901 save percentage and a 3.44 goals-against average on 232 shots with -0.8 goals saved above average.
