The Minnesota Wild face the New York Islanders with both teams looking to improve on rocky starts to the season. The Wild have a 4-5-2 record which is the second-worst in the Central Division while the Islanders have a 5-2-3 record and with only one win in their last three games, they have the fourth-best record in the Metropolitan Division. Both teams look to improve within their divisions and the upcoming game looks to be a good one.

The Wild have struggled out of the gate despite their offense stepping up and scoring 3.55 goals per game with eight goals in the last two games. Kirill Kaprizov, Mats Zuccarello, and Joel Eriksson Ek have scored 12 goals and 22 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has stepped up as well. Ryan Hartman, Marco Rossi, and Pat Maroon have combined for 13 goals and 11 assists while defensemen Jacob Middleton and Jonas Brodin have added three goals and 10 assists from the point to open up the offense.

The offense has been great but the defense has struggled, allowing 4.18 goals per game. Jonas Brodin and Brock Faber have combined for 1.3 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net at will. In addition, goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury has struggled with a .892 save percentage and a 2.83 goals-against average on 1 30 shots with -1.6 goals saved above average.
