The Buffalo Sabres face the Carolina Hurricanes with both teams looking to improve on rocky starts to the season. The Sabres have a 6-6 record and are near the bottom of the Atlantic Division but are coming off an impressive 6-4 win. The Hurricanes have a 7-5 record and after a 4-3 comeback win, they are in third place in the Metropolitan Division. Both teams look to improve within the Eastern Conference and the upcoming game should be a great one.

The Sabres are having a promising season with their offense stepping up and scoring 3.25 goals per game. Tage Thompson, Jeff Skinner, and Casey Middlestadt have scored 15 goals and 17 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has also stepped up. Alex Tuch, John-Jason Peterka, and Dylan Cozens combined for 11 goals and 13 assists while Rasmus Dahlin and Owen Power have added three goals and 14 assists from the point to open up the offense.

The offense has been great but the defense has struggled, allowing 3.17 goals per game. Owen Power and Henri Jokiharju have combined for 1.6 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net at will. In addition, Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen has struggled with a .901 save percentage and a 3.14 goals-against average on 141 shots with -0.6 goals saved above average.
