The Boston Bruins hit the road to Hockey Town on Saturday as they get set to take on the Detroit Red Wings in an Atlantic Division showdown. The Bruins have started the season nearly at the same pace as last year, a team that broke the NHL record for points in a season, with a record of 9-0-1. The Red Wings have been one of the surprise teams in the league thus far with a record of 6-4-1 and good for second place in the Atlantic Division. The puck drops at 7:00 PM EST.

The Boston Bruins have once again started the season in dominant fashion. One year after breaking the NHL record for points in a season, the Bruins are once near the top of the NHL in points and have yet to lose a game in regulation with a 9-0-1 record. On Thursday night, the Bruins defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs 3-2 after Jake DeBrusk and Charlie Coyle scored in the shootout to secure the points. DeBrusk also scored in regulation for the Bruins, along with Paval Zacha. Goalie Jeremy Swayman turned away 33-of-35 shots in the game. DeBrusk's goal was significant as it marked the first goal of the season for the Bruins' veteran winger.

“I’ve had slow starts in my career before, but it was a sense of relief,” DeBrusk said.

The Bruins are once again a point-producing machine this season but they are going about it in a very different way. Last season , the Bruins were not only one of the best defensive teams in the league but they led the NHL in goals per game as well. After losing several pieces that were critical to their offensive output, the Bruins have now leaned even more into their defensive strength. Boston is tops in the NHL in goals allowed per game and also have the NHL's best penalty-killing unit. The Bruins are once again led by the 1-2 punch in net of Swayman and Linus Ullmark.

Key Injuries: D Derek Forbort, C Jakub Lauko, D Matt Grzelcyk and F Milan Lucic are out.
