Lopez has averaged just half a block to start the 2023-24 campaign, swatting no shots in his first two games and one in each of his last two. He was one of the NBA's premier shot-blockers last season with a career-high 2.5 per contest as he racked up multiple blocks in 51 of 78 games.
Though Lopez is off to a slow start on defense, he's due for some positive regression on Friday. The Knicks have allowed the fourth-most blocks to opponents this season at 6.6 per contest. In the opener against Atlanta, six different players recorded a block, and Cavs starting center Evan Mobley had two blocks in each of his two games against New York.
