The New Jersey Devils face the St. Louis Blues with both teams heading in opposite directions to begin the season. The Blues have a 3-4-1 record and with back-to-back losses, they have the second-worst record in the Central Division. The Devils look to leap into first place in the Metropolitan Division while the Blues hope to rebound in the Central Division and the upcoming game should be a good one.

The Devils are having a great season with their offense leading the way, scoring 4.13 goals per game with 23 goals in the last five games. Jack Hughes, Jesper Bratt, and Tyler Toffoli have scored 18 goals and 24 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has stepped up as well. Luke Hughes, John Marino, and Jonas Seignethaler have combined for 32 blocked shots to lead the top two pairings but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net with ease. In addition, goaltender Vitek Vanecek has struggled with a .895 save percentage and a 3.24 goals-against average on 171 shots with -1.9 goals saved above average.
