An Eastern Conference showdown takes place on Monday night when the Brooklyn Nets (0-2, 2-0 ATS) travel to take on the Charlotte Hornets (1-1, 1-1 ATS). Brooklyn is still searching for their first win, in their last game the Nets lost in Dallas, going down 125-120 as 6-point underdogs. Charlotte just dropped a home game to the Pistons 111-99 as 4.5-point favorites. Brooklyn won all four matchups against Charlotte last season. The Nets are currently listed as 2-point favorites. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 EST from the Spectrum Center in Charlotte.

The Brooklyn Nets have started the season with two losses, and are looking to pick up their first win in Charlotte. Mikal Bridges is an excellent wing player, and was supposed to be the number one option in Brooklyn, but Cam Thomas may have the team rethinking the equation. Thomas dropped 36 off the bench in the opener, the coaching staff responded by giving him a starting spot against Dallas, and Thomas answered by dropping 30. Thomas only averages 9.8 PPG on his career, but has come out hot in his third season with Brooklyn.

Thomas is the top scorer and will likely start against Charlotte with his 33.0 PPG. Mikal Bridges is a reliable scoring threat on the wing, he is averaging 19.0 PPG through two games, but the coaching staff expects him to be the leading scorer by season's end. Spencer Dinwiddie is a starter at the guard position, he averages 14.0 PPG with 5.5 APG. The front office is hopin g Ben Simmons can return to All-Star form, he is back in the lineup and averages 10.0 RPG and 8.5 APG, but his scoring is way down with only 7.0 PPG through two games.

The coaching staff is still trying to figure out their rotations early in the season. Nic Claxton and Cameron Johnson both sat out the last game with minor injuries after starting opening night. Dorian Finney-Smith and Lonnie Walker IV provide options for Brooklyn on the perimeter. Brooklyn's tempo ranks 16th in the league based on pace of play statistics gathered by dunksandthrees.com.
