The Toronto Maple Leafs face the Nashville Predators with both teams heading in opposite directions to start the season. The Maple Leafs have a 5-2 record and with three wins in a row, they have leaped to the top of the Atlantic Division. The Predators have a 3-4 record which is the second-worst in the Central Division. Both teams are looking to improve within their divisions and the upcoming game should be a good one.

The Maple Leafs are having a great season with their offense stepping up and scoring 3.71 goals per game with 12 goals in their last three games. William Nylander, John Tavares, and Auston Matthews have scored 16 goals and 15 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has stepped up as well. Mitch Marner, Max Domi, and Matthew Knies have combined for four goals and 10 assists while defensemen Morgan Rielly and John Klingberg have added two goals and 10 assists from the point to open up the offense.

The offense has been great but the defense has struggled, allowing 3.00 goals per game. Morgan Rielly and T.J. Brodie have led the top pairing with 1.2 defensive point shares and 37 blocked shots but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net at will. In addition, goaltender Ilya Samsonov has been awful with a .831 save percentage and a 4.34 goals-against average on 83 shots.
