The Anaheim Ducks face the Philadelphia Flyers with both teams heading in opposite directions to start the season. The Ducks have a 3-4 record but have won back-to-back games to climb out of the bottom of the Pacific Division. The Flyers have a 4-2-1 record and have leaped to the top of the Metropolitan Division. The Ducks are hoping to continue to gain ground in the Pacific Division while the Flyers look to remain near the top of the Metropolitan Division and the upcoming game should be a good one.

The Ducks are off to a rough start to the season with their offense letting them down, scoring only 2.57 goals per game. Ryan Strome, Frank Vatrano, and Mason McTavish have scored nine goals and 10 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has struggled. Only four skaters have two goals or more and opposing defenses can limit the top-heavy offense as a result.
The offense has struggled but the defense has been great to start the season, allowing only 2.86 goals per game with only five goals in the last two games. Cam Fowler and Pavel Mintyukov have led the top two pairings with 22 blocked shots while Jackson LaCombe, Radko Gudas, and Ilya Lyubushkin have also stepped up, creating turnovers and limiting shots on the net. In addition, goaltender John Gibson has stepped up with a .905 save percentage and a 2.81 goals-against average on 116 shots.
