There will be a game seven in the American League Championship Series. The Texas Rangers forced a game seven on Sunday night with a resounding win over the Houston Astros in Houston. The win means that the road team has won each of the series' first six games heading into Monday night's winner-take-all matchup. The pitching matchup on Tuesday night will be Max Scherzer (13-7, 3.77) taking Cristian Javier (10-5, 4.56). The opening pitch is scheduled for 8:03 PM EST.

The Texas Rangers improbably season continued on Sunday night with a 9-2 win over the Astros to force a game 7 in the ALCS. The Rangers win made the road team a perfect 6-0 in the ALCS thus far. Once again, the Rangers were able to pick themselves up off the mat and pull out a win when all the odds were against them. Nate Eovaldi continued to build upon his dominant postseason resume after going 6.1 innings and allowing two runs on five hits while striking out four. He is now 4-0 in the postseason and the Rangers remain undefeated in this postseason in games their starter has gone at least six innings. The Rangers fell behind 1-0 but pulled ahead on home runs by Mitch Garver and Jonah Heim. They clung to a 4-2 lead in the eighth inning when closer Jose LeClerc redeemed himself after Friday night's blown save by striking out two to get out of a bases-loaded jam. More redemption would follow in the ninth when Adolis Garcia launched a gran d slam after striking out in each of his first four at-bats. The Rangers now have a chance to complete their magical run through the AL playoffs on Monday night.

The Rangers now will turn to veteran righty Max Scherzer to try and lead the Rangers into the World Series on Monday night. Scherzer pitched for the first time since September 12th in game three of this series. Scherzer allowed five hits and five runs in four innings of work in his return to the mound after more than a month off with a shoulder issue. Scherzer had a K/9 rate 9.0 and his WHIP was 11.25. It is unlikely Texas manager Bruce Bochy will give Scherzer as much of a leash in this outing with the season on the line. Scherzer will have a full bullpen behind him after Eovaldi was able to get the Rangers into the 7th inning on Sunday night.
