The Texas Rangers have been here before as they return to Houston down 3-2. The Rangers led the AL West Division for much of the season before the Mariners passed them in September and they soon found themselves in third place behind Seattle and Houston. They rallied back to take the lead in the division heading into the final weekend. Needing to close out the season with a win to guarantee the division title and first-round bye in the playoffs, the Rangers lost to the eliminated Mariners and were forced to hit the road for the wildcard round. Seven straight wins had the Rangers on the brink of returning to the World Series as they went home up 2-0 against the Astros. Texas lost games one and two soundly but was up  4-2 heading into the ninth inning on Friday night. A three-run home run sunk the Rangers once again and they now are back up against the wall once again looking to bounce back.

The Rangers have the right man on the mound to keep their postseason hopes alive on Sunday night in righty Nathan Eovaldi. Eovaldi has been the team's ace throughout the playoffs and already has a win in the series. Thus far in the postseason, Eovaldi is 3-0 in three starts with each start a quality start. He has thrown 19.2 innings and allowed 16 hits with an ERA of 2.29. Eovaldi's K/9 rate is a stellar 11.0 and his WHIP is a stingy 0.86. In game two against the Astros, Eovaldi went six innings and allowed five hits and three runs including two home runs. He has gone at least six innings in all his postseason starts which will be critical in this matchup.
