The Vancouver Canucks face the Tampa Bay Lightning with both teams heading in opposite directions to start the season. The Canucks won their first two games but hope to bounce back from a rough loss on the road. The Lightning won their opening night game but have lost three in a row to fall to 1-2-1 on the season. The Canucks look to remain near the top of the Pacific Division while the Lightning look to improve in the Atlantic Division and the upcoming game should be a great one.

The Canucks are off to a strong start with their offense stepping up and scoring 12 goals in their first three games. Elias Pettersson, J.T. Miller, and Brock Boeser have scored six goals and nine assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has stepped up as well. Nils Hoglander, Andrei Kuzmenko, and Sam Lafferty have combined for three goals and four assists while defensemen Quinn Hughes and Filip Hronek have added six assists from the point to help open up the offense.

The offense has been great but the defense has led the Canucks so far, allowing only six goals and only five goals in the last two games. Quinn Hughes and Filip Hronek have led the top pairing with 10 blocked shots but the rest of the unit has also stepped up Ian Cole, Carson Soucy, and Tyler Myers creating turnovers and limiting shots on the net. In addition, goaltender Thatcher Demko has been great to start the s eason, allowing only three goals on 64 shots.
