The Toronto Maple Leafs face the Florida Panthers with both teams looking to start off the season on the right foot. The Maple Leafs won their first two games but hope to bounce back from a rough loss. The Panthers lost their first two games but won their recent game with a much-needed strong performance. The Maple Leafs are off to a great start with their offense leading the way, scoring 4.33 goals per game with eight goals in the last two games. Auston Matthews, William Nylander, and John Tavares have scored 10 goals and eight assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has stepped up as well. Mitch Marner, Calle Jarnkrok, and Tyler Bertuzzi have combined for two goals and four assists while defensemen John Klingberg and Morgan Rielly have added six assists from the point to open up the offense.

The offense has been great but the defense has struggled, allowing 4.33 goals per game. John Klingberg and Morgan Rielly have led the top pairing but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net with ease. In addition, goaltender Ilya Samsonov has struggled with a .839 save percentage and a 4.42 goals-against average on 56 shots.
