The NHL season is officially back with all teams now having multiple games under their belts. The schedule takes a bit of a breather on Wednesday night with only two games, but there is still money to be made.
The Washington Capitals travel to Ottawa to kick off the two-game slate with the Senators, and a Pittsburgh Penguins-Detroit Red Wings matchup will follow suit.

Wedn esday's NHL prop picks
Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin has been a one-man shooting gallery so far this season. He has 18 shots on goal (23 shot attempts) through three games with six, seven, and five SOG.
The Penguins have allowed at least 35 shots on goal in two of their three games with the Capitals only putting up 19 in Washington's opener.
Larkin and the Red Wings are on home ice so they'll be able to deploy him to their liking. Given how he's started the season, I love the Over 3.5 shots on goal play tonight.

The Penguins have scored 11 goals this season and winger Jake Guentzel has assisted on nearly half of them. He had one assist against Chicago before putting up two against both Washington and Calgary.
Guentzel plays on the top line with Sidney Crosby and Bryan Rust, who are two pretty good goal-scorers. He's also on the top power-play unit with the likes of Erik Karlsson and Evgeni Malkin.
The under-the-radar winger is a good bet to put up at least one more assist tonight in what should be a high-scoring game.
Wednesday's NHL game picks
The Senators have high expectations this season and they're already showing that they may be able to live up to them. Ottawa bounced back from a season-opening loss to Carolina with 5-2 victories over the Flyers and Lightning.
Meanwhile, the Capitals were shut out 4-0 by the Penguins in their season opener before getting a 3-2 shootout win in a game in which they were outshot 40-23 by the Flames. They've now been outshot 75-42 through two games.
Washington now hits the road for the first time this season where the Senators have been dominating at home. After two three-goal victories, take the Senators on the puck line tonight.
The Penguins and Red Wings are both off to hot starts this season with 2-1-0 records. They've also both scored quite a few goals in those three games.
After being humbled by the Blackhawks 4-2 in the season opener, the Penguins have scored nine goals in their last two games. The Red Wings put up a respectable three goals in New Jersey to open the season before piling on six against Tampa Bay and four against Columbus.
Both teams are also averaging nearly (or over) three expected goals per 60 minutes, per Natural Stat Trick. Detroit ranks seventh at 3.06 with the Penguins in 12th at 2.93.
